Or, Moving is dangerous!
We are in the throes of moving. It is wonderful now to look out at a pristine lake surrounded by trees when I wake up. Instead of barking dogs and carousing humans, we now fall asleep to murmuring geese.
But moving brings surprises, too. One of them was seeing my paintings in a new setting. Packing them all up and moving them, then unwrapping them here, suddenly all I see is flaws. Only natural, I suppose. Also, a wonderful artist by the name of Ian Roberts has been making videos that he sends out to his subscribers. I’ve been watching them faithfully and it has changed the way I see. Here are two paintings I’ve completed since coming here:

Yes, that’s the one. I read his book years ago and have found the videos he sends out really engaging.
The next time you and Eve come out this way you’ll have no trouble finding me~we’re just up the road a piece. And, we now have a guest room! It is hard to believe it has been 5 years since you visited.
I’m relieved that the paintings seem abstract to you. There are so many ways to define abstract so when a local gallery asked me for some, I was unsure I could deliver.

Where did you end up moving to?
Yes, we finally moved! Not far, just about 8 miles north but that puts us out in the country. So nice up here!
We live now in an HOA -controlled neighborhood which I was afraid I’d hate, but it turns out there is a wetland committee and the landscape committee has expressed interest in native plantings, going forward! I’m really excited.
Thank you for your comments about the paintings. It is challenging to try to paint abstract, so I’m really pleased that you like them.
I hear your fears about an HOA. We live in a community that has one and it’s our first time living with one. So far it’s not bad. They do keep the neighborhood from going to pot and getting unsightly.

Our’s is turning out to be pretty great and like you say, they stay on top of things and keep the neighborhood looking good. I am so thankful to be living out here among the birds! 🙂

Boy they sure can, can’t they? How are you? It is so good to hear from you! I’m sorry I’ve been out of the blog loop for so long.
I knew there was a move in your future, but I wasn’t sure where you were going to land. I’m glad that you have at least some of the frustrations behind you, and I really like the pair of paintings. I’m especially taken with the second. We’ve had a number of controlled burns in the region in the past couple of weeks, and when I saw that painting, I thought of the exciting rush of life-giving smoke across the prairie.
